1979 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Coupe - Series 2 (Oscar India)

“Not only the UK’s first true supercar but also the fastest 4 seater production car in the world.”

V8VOR12072 Engine V540/2072V, Weber carburetors, ZF 5 speed, released 13 December 1978 to the dealer in Jersey, Channel Islands. Only 44 of the V540 “Oscar India” V8 Vantages were built, up to March 1980, out of the 458 V8s built 1977 through 1990; www.v8vantage.com is a site dedicated to this model.

Raven Black with Burgundy leather interior and Red Wilton Wool carpeting, LHD, Original 5-speed manual, 99,560 KM from new. Matching numbers, Rare Factory Sunroof. In 1987 it was converted to LHD.

This V8 Vantage is one of the first 12 Oscar India V8 Vantages built in late 1978 as a 1979 model year car. The first registered owner was in Walsall UK, and then in 1986 a doctor in Halesowen, UK. It was sold in 1987 to the Vicomte de Farcy, in France, who had the car converted to LHD by a well-known Aston marque specialist in that year. A noted Aston collector, Count Audoin de Dampierre, purchased the car in 1989 and covered some 30,000 miles. Next custodian was Mr. Abegg in France, late 1998, and then a Swiss owner in early 2001, who used it approximately 12,000 kilometers. Tom Papadopoulos brought the Aston to the US in December 2012, and in May 2013 noted Aston collector John Littlechild of New England purchased the car.

This V8 Vantage has a huge history file documenting ownership and service from new, including the most recent, complete and comprehensive restoration by Aston Martin specialists Steel Wings.  The Steel Wings restoration work is extremely fresh, and was just completed August of this year (2015).

Listed below is a partial list of the work just completed by Steel Wings.

The body has been stripped to bare metal and repainted in its original Raven Black color.  This V8 Vantage was treated to the best rust inhibitors before repainting and having its chassis completely restored. The complete underside has been disassembled, stripped, corrosion protected, rebuilt and detailed. During this process, the gearbox was rebuilt and the limited slip differential was overhauled, the driveshaft and axles serviced and balanced. The complete braking system has been rebuilt with new brake calipers at all four corners, all brake lines have been renewed and the brake master cylinder and clutch slave cylinders rebuilt. The suspension has been completely refurbished to include new Koni shock absorbers, rebuilt steering rack, new suspension bushings throughout as well as the addition of a handling kit to enhance the V8’s already excellent handling characteristics.

Mechanically, this V8 Vantage received a full engine reseal, rebuilt carbs, new water pump, all new oil lines as well as new oil coolers, prior to being installed back into the car with a completely detailed engine bay.

The interior is original and well-kept and conditioned from new.

This V8 Vantage is one of the first Oscar India examples built. It is in exceptional condition throughout with everything working properly. This is a rare opportunity to own the limited production second series V8 Vantage. It is rare, superb, and in ready to use condition throughout.
