Details

Porsche needing to upgrade the aging SC series 911, came up with the 3.2 Carrera in 1984. The 911 3.2 Carrera was the last iteration in the original 911 series, featuring new body styling with larger brakes, better electronics and revised suspension. The biggest upgrade was the introduction of the 3.2 liter engine, which was bumped to 3.2-liters. At the time Porsche claimed it was 80% new. Larger displacement, higher domed pistons, and a Turbo crankshaft were some of the enhancements the new 3.2 liter engine.  Besides the bump in displacement, engine upgrades also included new fuel and ignition control components to an L Jetronic with Bosch Motronics 2, which helped raise the power to 217hp for US cars.

Replacing the aging 915 transmission, in 1987, the Carrera got a new five-speed hydraulic gearbox sourced from Getrag, model number “G50” with proven Borg Warner synchronizers.

In 1984, Porsche also introduced the M491 option commonly known as the "Turbo-look". It was a style that resembled the 911 Turbo with wide wheel arches, Turbo suspension, Turbo brakes, larger Turbo wheels and the famous “whale tail” rear spoiler.

This is one of only 32 1988 Porsche 3.2 liter Targas ordered from the factory with the M491 package.  Finished in Black, over black, this 2 owner Porsche has only travelled 48,000 miles.  Fully serviced, detailed and needing nothing to enjoy.  Clean Car Fax, Service Records and Books, Factory Radio and Keys included.
